Carpaccio for Amateurs

Beef Carpaccio is a delicious and low fat Italian food.
Have you thought about trying this delicious Italian dish but the idea of raw meat has you scared? If you pay attention to a few important rules, you will have nothing to worry about (except where to find more of it)!
If you are preparing a carpaccio at home, be sure to buy fresh meat from a trusted butcher or supermarket. If the latter, check that the meat was packaged fresh the same day. Buy a very thinly sliced lean cut of beef tenderloin. Once you have it home, was your hands BEFORE handling it. Lay the slices in a single layer on a plate. On top of the meat, add a handful of fresh rucola, then add salt, fresh ground pepper, plenty of freshly squeezed lemon juice (for those of you who are still nervous, rest assured - the lemon juice will kill anything that doesn't belong in there!), and a drizzle of good quality extra virgin olive oil on top. Some like to add a few slices of Grana Padano or Parmigiano Reggiano cheese to this dish as well.
At only 110 calories per 3.5 ounces, carpaccio is a wonderful and guilt-free Italian recipe!
