Don't Sh_t On the Sidewalk!
You know it is a sad state of affairs when a sign that says "don't crap near the waste bins" is in order.
On my way home from the office today after our last tour of the Vatican, I noticed this sad note had been taped to the sidewalk on a side street right near the Vatican museum entrance. It's horrific, isn't it? Bad enough that Romans have to be told not to crap on the sidewalk near the waste bins, but it almost suggests that crapping anywhere else is just fine?
