The famous song title now rings true for thousands of Roma Gypsies who may face deportation
In the wake of an increasing wave of pretty crime throughout Europe, several EU governments are pointing the finger at newcomer gypsy populations and taking drastic measures to cut crime. France has deported more than 1,000 Roma gypsies, and Italy may soon follow suit. According to an article in the Washington Post, authorities have begun to dismantle Milan's largest Roma camp called Triboniano, as well as dozens of smaller camps which officials say are home to dens of thieves.
According to the article, Milan's Vice Mayor Riccardo De Corato said "Our final goal is to have zero Gypsy camps in Milan."
As the song goes, "Arrivederci Roma"...
