Approximately twelve (12) hours, five (5) of which is transfer time between Rome and Campania on Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fri, Sat excluding religious holidays.

 Overview

Our luxury air conditioned van will pick you up from your city centre hotel. If you are staying outside the city centre, you must meet us at the central departure point (see confirmation e-mail for details). We begin the journey south through the Campania region with a short stop for a cappuccino and bar snack, before arriving in Pompeii at approximately 10:30 AM.

A local expert guide will lead you on an archaeological journey of discovery through Pompeii. During the two (2) hour visit in English you will learn about this mysterious city, cloaked in ash during the eruptions of Mt. Vesuvius in the year 79 AD. Through the astonishing remains and ruins we can see today, you will be proffered a glimpse of everyday life during the Imperial Age, and perhaps be able to imagine the terror felt by victims in their last moments of life. Thousands of people were overcome by the effects of pyroclastic flow when Pompeii was buried beneath burning ash. Once the tour there has ended, we travel to Sorrento, gateway to the Amalfi Coast. In Sorrento you will sit down for a leisurely lunch typical of the Campania region. Your hosts will serve a selection of appetizers, pasta or risotto with fresh seafood, dessert, and coffee (ordering a la carte also possible). After lunch, should you prefer, you may explore Sorrento on your own and meet your driver later on for the return home. You will have ample time to explore this wonderful coastal town and it's many shops, which sell local specialities such as Limoncello and delicious pastries, as well as take in dramatic views of the stunning Amalfi Coast from the scenic Sorrento overlook. At 16:00 PM you will meet your driver for the return leg to Rome, arriving at hotels between 19:00 PM and 19:30 PM.

This tour is a semi-private guided tour. Lunch cost not included. As a significant amount of walking is required, in the event of physical disabilities, we ask that you contact us before booking so that we can assess whether or not a wheelchair is needed. As this tour takes place outdoors, during the warmer months all clients are urged to wear comfortable clothes, walking shoes, a sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. When completing the booking form, children requiring a seat in the van must be included in the total number of people for this tour.
