Suggested Itinerary
Your guide, van, and driver would meet you at your hotel and from there we would begin our journey South toward the Castelli Romani wine region. Along the way we would travel down the Appian Way, the historic pass where according to history and legend St. Peter had a vision of Jesus who convinced him to return to Rome to his martyrdom.
Once outside Rome we would make our first stop at the Tenimento di Casamara, a vineyard that sits on 11 hectares. This family run vineyard mainly produces Frascati doc superiore, red wine, and olive oil. On the same grounds there is a homestead built in the 1700's amidst the ruins of a roman vicus of the 1st century AD near an ancient aqueduct. On the grounds there are several other examples of various Roman ruins. The home has a wine cellar dating back to the early 1900's, where the wine is still produced, although now utilizing modern machineries.
There is also a small museum showing tools used in agriculture to cultivate vineyards. A tasting room with a fireplace has been added. Here it is possible to buy bottled wines, in packages with 3 or 6 bottles, and it is possible to send small quantities abroad.
Our hosts would organize a tasting of their three main types of wines for your group. They also have a selection of lunch menus available for a lovely meal on the grounds.

From here we recommend visiting one or two additional vineyards in the towns of Velletri and Montecompatri where tastings of additional regional specialties would be made available. Alternatively, you could spend some time wandering through the streets of the lovely historic center of Frascati.
