Day Trip to Pompeii By Car

An amazing journey with private car and driver to discover the ruins of one of nature's most devastating volcanic eruptions in one of the most typical regions of southern Italy.

What you'll see: Pickup at Rome hotel, transport to Pompeii, guided tour of ruins, stop for lunch and a walk around the local historic center, return to Rome. This tour can be extended to include a drive along part of the Amalfi Coastline.
 

Suggested Itinerary

Our car and driver would meet you at your hotel and from there you begin the journey South of Rome to the excavations at Pompeii. Here you will have a guided walking tour with a local guide of the ruins of this ancient city. In approximately 2 hours you will see what has been discovered from more than 1,800 years ago when Pompeii was covered by ashes during the eruption of Vesuvius in the year 79 AD. Through the remains and ruins of this ancient city, you will get a glimpse of the everyday life of the Imperial Age and imagine the panic felt by the people in their last moments before the city was so disastrously buried. You will see the wonderful frescoes, mosaic floors, the Dancing Fawn and the petrified bodies. As you wander these ancient cobblestone streets you will have a view of Mt Vesuvius in the background.

From here you could travel to the local historic center and spend time to wander the characteristic streets of this charming village with charming shops and restaurants.  Should time allow (depending on traffic on these narrow roads) you could also travel along the Amalfi coast for wonderful views of the Gulf of Naples. Most often this involves an extension of the allotted tour time.

Your driver will then accompany you back to your Rome hotel.
