Overview / Itinerary Option #1
Morning arrival at Palermo Port. Depart with private driver and cultural guide for an orientation tour of Palermo featuring various Norman and Arabic infused architectural monuments from the 11th and 12th centuries. You will see the Monreale Cathedral and its Cloisters, Palatine Chapel and Royal Palace, St. John of the Hermits Monastery, and Martorana and San Cataldo churches as well as the cathedral in Palermo per se. Lunch at the Focacceria San Francesco follows where you can savour authentic Sicilian flavours across a variety of dishes, from 'Panino con la Milza' (spleen and cheese sandwich) to 'Panelle' (deep-fried chickpea fritters) and 'Arancini di Riso' (rice balls stuffed with tomatoes, peas and mozzarella) to complement the experience.
You would then join your driver for a return to Palermo port in good time ahead of your ship's departure. This is a fully private cruise tour from the port of Palermo with further options to visit Segesta, Cefalù, and the Madonie Mountains on request. This tour is not combined with others.
Overview / Itinerary Option #2
Arrival at Palermo port. Depart with private driver and cultural guide for a visit to the town of Corleone, known as the birthplace of both the real and fictional Mafia. Corleone was originally founded during the Arabic conquest of Southern Italy in the 9th Century, at which time it was known as 'Qurlayun'. The tour includes visits to a local non-profit anti-Mafia organization, involved in both educating and assisting the community and local businesses in the culture of legality, and the Ficuzza Royal Hunting Lodge, built by Ferdinando I during the 18th century. The lodge is located in the mountainous Ficuzza nature reserve. Thereafter you may partake in a rustic lunch and wine tasting at a local vineyard.
Return to the port of Palermo / options as above.
